Ingredients:

  • Paneer- 200 grams
  • Salt- ½ tsp
  • Deggi mirch powder- ½ tsp
  • Garam masala- ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
  • Water- 1 ½ tbsp
  • Oil- 1 tbsp

  • For gravy:

  • Onion- 3 medium size finely chopped
  • Tomato- 3 medium size chopped
  • Oil- 4 tbsp
  •  Pinch of asafetida
  • Cumin seed- 1 tsp
  • Bay leaf- 1 pc
  • Whole red chili- 2 pcs
  • Cinnamon stick- 2 pcs
  • Cloves- 4-5 pcs
  • Green cardamom- 1 pc
  • Ginger-garlic paste- 1 tsp
  • Gram flour- 1 ½ tbsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
  • Deggi mirch powder- 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder- 1 tsp
  • Garam masala- 1 tsp
  • Cashew nuts- 4 pcs
  • Resins- 6-7 pcs
  • Poppy seeds- 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water- 1 ½ cup (as required)

Method

Cook the paneer

  1. Firstly add  ½ tsp red chili powder, ¼  tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp deggi mirch powder, 1 ½  tbsp water and 1 tbsp oil to a bowl.
  2. Mix well and add paneer cubes & marinate to 10 minutes.
  3. After marination, heat wide pan on low flame, place the paneer cubes in pan.
  4. Flip them to the other side and cook on a low flame. this take only 1 minute to each side. Then remove from pan and keep aside.

Make the curry paste

  1.  Add cashew nuts, resins, poppy seeds and ¼ cup water make a smooth paste and keep aside.
  2. Making the curry
  3. Heat oil in a non stick pan, add cumin seed, asafetida, bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon stick, whole red chili and green cardamom, sauté for a minute. (medium flame)  
  4. Add chopped onion, 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste and saute  until it turns golden brown.
  5. Add turmeric powder, garam masala, deggi mirch powder, coriander powder and gram flour and sauté for another minute.
  6. Add chopped tomato and salt then mix it to. lower the flame, cover the pan and let this cook for 3-4 mins. (sauté every min.)
  7. Once the curry paste is cooked, add paneer mix well.
  8. Further, add 1 ½ cup of water mix everthing  adjusting consistency as required.
  9. Finally add cashew nuts paste and mix properly.
  10. Let this simmer on medium heat for 4-5 minutes and then turn off the heat.
  11. Transfer to serving bowl and decorate with fried cashew nuts.
  12. Serve hot with parathas.
